I haven't read The Host. My husband and a couple of friends have and with mixed (at best moderate) reviews. It's the adult fiction debut of bestselling Twilight author Stephenie Meyer. It's certainly not what people expected after Twilight, but it was still on the bestseller list and, now, is being made into a movie. The trailer has been debuted:
What do you think, will you go see it? What books are you hoping they'll adapt into film?
I will not see the movie. The book couldn't hold my attention -- neither could the trailer for the movie.
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie trailer and I was *almost* going to buy the book today ... but from the mediocre reviews, I think I won't. I really need something to read this weekend, though...
ReplyDeleteEve, what kind of book are you looking to read? I can make some recommendations.

DeleteHi, Sarah! Well, I loved the Twilight series and ate up the Hunger Games trilogy, as well - so I was hoping to find something like those two - some YA series that people eat up. :)
ReplyDeleteTalk about can't put down series! I devoured both Twilight and Hunger Games. You may like the Personal Demons series (good and evil, romance, action packed); the first book is great although the second isn't nearly as good. The Luxe series is also YA and a total guilty pleasure although completely different genre as it's historical fiction so plotting, undercutting, affairs, social hierarchy etc. I adored the stand alone novel If I Fall (just get past the first chapter)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the suggestions. Yes, I'm definitely in the mood right now for some guilty pleasure/crack-like reading, having just finished The Hunger Games - gonna go check out your suggestions right now. :)
